On Saturday (20th) there were several traffic accidents in the Odenwald district, some with serious injuries.
At around 10:25 a.m., a 29-year-old from the Offenbach district drove his motorcycle on the B460 from Hiltersklingen in the direction of Wegscheide. According to initial investigations, during an overtaking manoeuvre, he overlooked a 20-year-old from the Odenwald who was turning left with his agricultural team, and a collision ensued. The motorcyclist was trapped under the trailer and had to be freed by the fire department. The young man was then taken to a hospital by helicopter with serious injuries; the driver of the team was uninjured. There was property damage of around 15,000 euros.
At around 2:15 p.m., a 23-year-old from the Rhein-Neckar district drove on his motorcycle on the L3410 from Rothenberg in the direction of Beerfelden. According to initial investigations, the young man started to overtake a car with a horse trailer in a curve area and got too far into the oncoming lane. Here a 28-year-old from Heidelberg, together with a 27-year-old, drove the same route in the opposite direction, also with a motorcycle. Both vehicle drivers could not prevent a collision, the motorcycles sometimes rolled over several times. The young man from the Rhein-Neckar district was slightly injured, the two other people involved in the accident were seriously injured, so that the rescue helicopter was used again. All those involved were taken to nearby hospitals. There was property damage of around 10,000 euros.
