Jakarta, Beritasatu.com – The solar system is the system of planets, asteroids, comets, satellites and other celestial bodies that revolve around the sun. The solar system is surrounded by 8 planets consisting of Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune.
Since ancient times, humans have noticed the visible motions of the Sun, Moon and planets in the Earth’s sky. Many civilizations such as the Ancient Egyptians, Babylonians and Ancient Greeks recorded and observed the movements of the heavens. They developed the geocentric model, in which they believed Earth to be the center of the Solar System.
The invention of the telescope by Galileo Galilei in the 17th century brought about significant changes in observations of the Solar System. Galileo observed the phases of the Moon, moons of Jupiter, and rings of Saturn, which showed that the Solar System is a complex system.
In the late 17th century, Isaac Newton formulated the law of gravitation which provided an explanation for the gravitational interactions between the bodies of the solar system. Newton’s law of gravity combines an understanding of planetary motion with the concept of gravitational attraction. This discovery became a study of astronomy to further dig up information on the solar system, interesting discoveries began to be revealed.
