Kochi: Kerala Blasters selection trials will be stopped in Kochi. The gate of the Panampally Nagar school in Kochi, where the trials were to be held, was locked on the grounds that Blasters had not paid the rent to the Sports Council.
Manorama News reported that the action is under the leadership of Ernakulam Sports Council President and Kunnathunad MLA PV Srinij. But following the protest, a gate is currently open.
More than 100 children came this morning for the selection for the U-17 team. But the parents said the decision was very difficult. The parents told Manorama News that the problem between the authorities should not be shown to the children.
But it is reported that Kerala Blasters has not paid rent for eight months.
‘It is not locked by me, it is locked every day as it is a government property. The council was not informed about the trials. This type of action is done without giving a letter to the council.
There is rent arrears from last October to May. This situation was brought about by the negative attitude of Kerala Blasters despite sending several letters for it. If they had told me yesterday, the gate could have been opened,’ said Srinijan.
But state sports council president U. Sharafali also informed that there is no rent arrears to be paid. Blasters also informed that the rent has been paid. She clarified that the rent has been duly paid to the State Council.
Then Kochi councilors came and joined in protest against the incident and opened another gate of the school. But there is also a complaint that no one except children is allowed to go to school.
