“Solo Mayor Gibran Rakabuming Raka Summoned by PDIP for Allegedly Meeting Prabowo Subianto”

TEMPO.CO, Solo – The Mayor of Solo, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, is scheduled to come to fulfill the summons of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle Central Leadership Council (DPP) today, Monday, May 22 2023. Gibran’s summons is allegedly related to his meeting with the general chairman of the Gerindra Party Prabowo Subianto on Friday evening, 19 May 2023.

Gibran’s summons to the DPP PDIP was revealed when Gibran was met by the media crew while attending the opening ceremony of the 29th Anniversary of the Iron Buffalo Antik Motorcycle Solo at Solo Vastenburg Fort on Saturday, May 20, 2023.

Gibran admitted that his plan to go to Jakarta was because he had been summoned by PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto. “Summoned ding,” he said.

Gibran further revealed that Hasto had summoned him orally by telephone on Saturday morning. “This morning (Saturday) he was contacted. Orally. (Who contacted) the Secretary General (Hasto Kristiyanto),” he said.

Asked whether the summons was related to his meeting with Prabowo which was also attended by Jokowi and Gibran volunteers, the eldest son of President Joko Widodo or Jokowi said there was a possibility. “Yes, it might also be related to the meeting,” said Gibran.

When asked about the attitude he would take if he were to be penalized by the PDIP because of his meeting with Prabowo that Friday night, Gibran said he was ready.

Meant to meet Prabowo

However, Gibran explained that Friday night’s meeting with Prabowo had nothing to do with Prabowo’s meeting with Jokowi and Gibran volunteers, including when there was a statement of support from Jokowi and Gibran’s volunteers for Prabowo’s candidacy for president.

“Yesterday (Friday night) Pak Prabowo and I only had dinner. There was nothing specific. My position is Mayor and Pak Prabowo is the Minister of Defence,” he said.

Meanwhile, when Prabowo met with Jokowi volunteers and Gibran volunteers, Gibran said he did not join and did not take part in making statements of support for Prabowo. “During my speech, I stepped aside. Never came out of my mouth about supporting the presidential candidate. If I am told to gather (volunteers), it does not mean that I support the presidential candidate,” he said again.
