Other Corinthians fans, however, used the space of the post to criticize Yuri Alberto, since part of Mantuan’s economic rights was a bargaining chip for the acquisition of the center forward by Corinthians.

“Sin is the exchange Duilio made to keep Yuri Alberto”, wrote one fan in the comments. Before, Corinthians had 80% of Mantuan. After buying Yuri Alberto outright, however, Timão owns only 30% of him.

Mantuan has been at Zenit since the second half of 2022. Since then, he has played 26 games for the team, with just six as a starter, according to the oGol. In this period, he scored five goals and three assistsin addition to being Russian champion for the team.

The young man from the Corinthians youth team played in the starting line-up in Zenit’s match last Saturday, against Orenburg, and was directly involved in both goals in the team’s 2-2 draw, opening the game’s scoreboard and assisting in the additions to avoid the team’s defeat.

Situation of Mantuan and Corinthians

Zenit has shown interest in having Gustavo Mantuan permanently after the end of the athlete’s loan, which runs until the middle of the year. Representatives of Corinthians and the Russian club scheduled a meeting last Friday to intensify negotiations.

With a contract until 2027 at the Parque São Jorge club, Mantuan can be negotiated for 3 million euros for the remainder of their economic rights. Zenit coach Sergey Semak has said he has plans for the player if he is signed permanently. The attacker, however, preferred not to go into the details of the deal and left his future open.
