“Teacher Receives Show-Cause Notice After Death for Failing to Participate in Exam Evaluation – Thiruvananthapuram”

Thiruvananthapuram – A show-cause notice has been issued to a teacher who died last year after testing positive for Covid-19 for allegedly not participating in the evaluation of higher secondary exams. VV Ranjini Kumari, who was a Hindi teacher in Govt HSS, Kasaragod Paravanadukkam, has been accused by the Higher Secondary Examination Department of the Public Education Department for the examination which was held 7 months after her death.

Last August, Ranjini said goodbye during treatment. A show-cause notice has also been sent to the junior English teachers who were dismissed from service before the commencement of assessment due to loss of post. They were dismissed on March 31. Subsequently, the same examination department which issued the circular excluding them from the evaluation work has now sent a notice to them for not participating in the evaluation. The list includes those who retired in March and are working in other institutions on deputation.

The opposition teachers’ organizations HSSTA and AH STA have pointed out that there are many such mistakes in the department’s action and this shows how irresponsibly the matter is being handled.

A total of 1371 teachers have been issued show cause notices. It is suggested that an explanation be given to the Joint Director by post within 15 days. If not, action will be taken considering that there is no explanation, the notice states.
