Gebran Bassil vows to pursue Lebanese corruption from France

The head of the “Free Patriotic Movement,” MP Gebran Bassil, affirmed that, “The meeting here always has a distinctive flavor, as France will always remain the land that embraced General Aoun in his exile at the time he persecuted and excluded us, and it is the land of freedoms from which the movement and the RPL launched the battle to restore freedom, sovereignty and independence to Lebanon. It spread the world and reached America with the Sovereignty Restoration Act.

During a meeting in Paris, Bassil indicated that “France is the land from which the battle to liberate Lebanon from corruption and the corrupt is launched today, and the first spark in the battle to end the time of impunity started in Paris with the international arrest warrant issued against the governor of the Banque du Liban and the thief of the Lebanese money, Riad Salameh.”

He added, “Just as we won by achieving Lebanon’s sovereignty and independence starting from Paris, we will win by achieving punishment and ending the state of impunity for thieves starting from Paris.”

And Bassil added, “The closest ones to me kept saying to me, ‘Who in your mind is pursuing, prosecuting, or stopping Riad Salameh?’ And I tell them that it is not possible for a living people with a living current to be broken before a ruler who controls his money.”

And he continued, “There are still presidents, ministers, deputies, judges, bankers, journalists, media professionals, politicians, and people of influence. We will pursue you one by one. You are the ones who stole us, stole our people, mocked us, and funded political assassinations against us.”

Basil asked: “Where were they in the battle of electricity when we were fighting to secure it? Where were they in the battle of oil and gas when we were issuing laws and decrees and stopping them? Where were they in the battle of the criminal audit when we were trying to pass it? Where were they in the battle of the Capital Control Law when we were trying to pass it in Parliament And after he did not acknowledge, despite 3 and a half years? Where were they in the battle to recover the money transferred abroad, and in the battle of the law to disclose the accounts and property of politicians and those in public service? Where were they and where are they today in the battle to punish Riad Salameh and his gang?

He pointed out that “the current will continue its pulse, struggle, and path to liberate the country from corruption, and it will converge with internal and external judicial lines – not an internal judiciary, some exceptional Lebanese judges – and an international European judiciary, and God willing, it will not be long until it becomes American; and whenever they intersect, someone falls from the system.” The most important thing will be the fall of the political and big heads. This will be an intersection between a firm and internal Lebanese political will, and an external desire to abandon those who have exhausted and consumed them, and it will be a great fall.

He said, “They do not know that when someone’s files become exposed to the apparatus, the judiciary, and public opinion, the great protection falls from him, and the small and partial protections become insufficient? They do not know that when a large person falls from the system, he becomes afraid of them and they are afraid of him?”

And he continued, “Today, the files are revealed, a paper reveals the second, a file reveals the second, a confession that drags the second, a judge that joins the second, and a state that joins the second, and the Free Patriotic Movement will not stop and will not get tired and will continue with its steady path, and second paths will intersect with it, beginning in France and Europe and ending in America, and with all Intersection will bring down a large head.”

Bassil stressed, “The Free Patriotic Movement, in any case, will dialogue with any candidate from the reform system, and will confront any candidate from the corruption system, from Free France. The Free Movement pledges to support a president free from corruption for Lebanon.”

He added, “We hope that the countries of freedom will help us to preserve our freedom by electing whoever we want without external interference, and we will accept many security names, but we will not accept the president of “whoever he was”, if he is part of the system, and the president of his history, path and future with corruption and against reform, And a president whose priority will be nothing but to protect the system that brought him in.”

He pointed out that “the principle of impunity is not only dangerous because it leaves criminals without justice for them, its danger is that it encourages others to commit crimes, and the most dangerous thing is that it teaches them to underestimate and disrespect people and their rights, and tomorrow they run to join us when we win the battle and slander us like they did at the time of restoring independence and they became the sovereigns in March 14th, and we are the dependents, and so they did with the battle of corruption, and they became the revolution on October 17th, and we are the corrupt ones.

He pointed out, “The important thing is that we reach consensus in order to secure the required majority by voting first and by securing a quorum second: two stages, one Christian and the second national, and two stages, one with 65 and the second with 86.”

Bassil concluded: “We will remain open, responsive and flexible: you reject a name, there is a second, and a third, and there are no names that can be partially or fully agreed upon, whether Christian or patriotic.”
