Madagascar: Digital transformation, focusing on training young people – AGP

Libreville, May 20, 2023 (AGP) – Madagascar is hosting the 12th edition of the conference on digital transformation in Africa (ATDA), from Friday May 19 until the evening of Saturday May 20. The country is betting on digital, it is still necessary to have trained young people.

The Big Island has become a preferred destination for large multinational companies in the development of their BPO (Business Process Outsourcing) and customer relationship services. However, the country also intends to stand out in other digital sectors, because the question arises: what if digital served as an accelerator for income-generating activities on the island?

It is in any case the bet that the Malagasy company Arke Up has launched. It has just developed a tool dedicated to agribusiness, specializing in traceability.

“You know very well that, for example on the European market, we are becoming more and more demanding on the traceability of products. We ask to know what their background was. So we support the different sectors, be it vanilla, cocoa, cloves or others. This, to put in place these blockchain mechanisms, so that the customer, when he buys vanilla from Madagascar in a supermarket, the entire chain of traceability is verifiable at his level”, explains Herizo Rakotondramanana, marketing director of this service company. digital.

Through a QRcode system to scan, the customer can obtain all the history of his product, tamper-proof and indelible information thanks to this blockchain technology.

“We want to show that we have skills, here in Madagascar, which can bring much more intelligence to the digital transformation of our customers”, continues the marketing director of the company Arke Up.

To meet this objective, it is still necessary to have a qualified workforce. Five years ago, Matina Razafimahefa created Sayna, a digital school – 100% online – which has already graduated more than 3,000 students.

“We allow anyone to learn the key skills of digital professions. And from the moment learners have validated skills on our platform, they have access to opportunities for remunerative computer task activities that are purchased by companies. We will be on tasks with high added value. We are going to do computer development and we are therefore very far from the story of just feeding artificial intelligence from Madagascar, ”she said.

Digital, an ever-expanding market, in which the Big Island has all its cards to play.
