Passionate about painting and colors since always, Jean-Jacques Goude gives birth to picturesque creations. From figurative to modern through drawing, imagination (bubbling) and inventiveness (quirky) are his watchwords. Loving to create beyond the limits of the standard, by adapting the size of his works, or by using unusual supports, this artist gives his view of the world.
When was this passion for painting born?
Is 6 years old. Having noticed that I liked to paint and draw from an early age, my mother enrolled me in Robert Lelaisant’s studio in Niort. On my first painting I painted the trees pink, I thought it was prettier!
And the first exhibition?
At 9 years old in the Hall of Honor of the Town Hall of Niort where my works and those of other students were exhibited. I then realized that painting would be the “red thread” of my life. However I did not quivi a formation in Fine arts, but of draughtsman in building, which enabled me to keep a share of drawing.
So, the painting was finished?
No, I continued to paint by forging my style, drawn from the roots of childhood. Figurative at first, I felt the need to go towards “modern” ways. I create my works using different techniques (oil paint, acrylic, ink, …) and various supports (canvas, Toulouse bricks, back of oilcloth, …), with symbolic tendencies and subtleties that t is not always easy to grasp from an outside perspective. I like to have fun and not leave indifferent.
It took me many years to paint in the streets, but it’s a joy to put my easel down and paint outdoors following my inspiration. Contact with people interests me.
Where does inspiration come from?
Things from life, nature, travel, society or current events that I take a critical look at. I also express myself through rather satirical drawings. Over the years, meetings and exchanges have helped me to become the artist I am today and allow me to evolve in this direction. Do not take yourself seriously but work seriously
New projects?
Currently I am working on a project: Painting, on bricks from Toulouse, the banks of the Garonne. It’s an ambitious project that I can’t complete alone. To continue it, I need financial support and a space where it can be displayed permanently.
