1. FC Köln did not get more than a draw in their last away game of the season. There was a 1-1 (0-1) draw at SV Werder Bremen.
1. FC Köln missed their fourth away win in a row at SV Werder Bremen and thus missed a club record. In a strong first half, Steffen Tigges was able to reward FC with the lead. After the change of sides, however, Werder pressed for the equalizer and thus earned the draw. The t-online individual review:
Marvin Schwabe
Was wide awake and made a strong save against Ducksch (9th). Then had nothing to do for a long time before he sensationally saved from close range against Stage and Füllkrug (71’/73′). Had some luck after that though when he dived under a corner. Finally without a chance when conceding a goal (72nd).
Benno Schmitz
Returned to the starting XI after being suspended. His right-hand side of defense initially held tight, but was no longer able to prevent the cross before Bremen equalized (73′). Substituted for Schindler shortly afterwards.
Timo Hubers
The double goal scorer from the previous week almost scored again, but his header just missed the goal (45th). Got into trouble with Bremen’s turn phase and lost a bit of order with his defensive line.
Jeff Chabot
The central defender hardly lost a duel against the beefy Bremen striker in the first round and was particularly difficult to overcome in the air. However, he had problems with the pressure phase of the guests. Allowed himself to be lured out by Stage’s big chance and then missed in the center (71′).
Jonas Hector
The captain sent his front man Linton Maina on the voyage again and again, but remained unusually inconspicuous even on the offensive. In the first round, however, he also had a busy opponent in Mitchell Weiser, who kept him defensively on his toes. Let Schmid run away from the equalizer behind him (73′).
Ellyes Skhiri
The Tunisian was highly motivated in his last away game with FC and kept going on the offensive despite his broken shoes. In the second round mainly tried with defensive tasks and no longer quite so conspicuous.
Eric Martel
Although Martel didn’t attract much attention, he convinced with an outstanding pass rate and good duel statistics. Was also extremely diligent against the ball. Before equalizing, however, lost the header duel against Ducksch.
Dejan Ljubicic
Got a yellow card early in the game (12′) and had to be careful from then on. After his second foul, he was endangered by yellow-red, so Baumgart had to take him off the field after just under half an hour. A bitter afternoon for the Austrian.
Florian Kainz
Had Cologne’s first chance of the game, but Pavlenka was able to deflect his shot (13′). His perfect cross to Tigges made it 1-0 (36′). Couldn’t put his stamp on the game as much in the second round and was substituted in the 78th minute.
Linton Maina
With his speed, he posed enormous problems for Bremen’s right-hand defense and kept breaking down the wing. Increasingly exhausted in the second round, Baumgart took Maina off the field after an hour.
Steffen Tigges
Back in the starting XI for the first time in over two and a half months, the attacker was rewarded with his first chance to make it 1-0 in the 36th minute. It was also his first goal since the first leg against Bremen. Otherwise hard-working and hard-working as a runner. Substituted for Selke after an hour.
Jan Thielmann (from the 33rd)
Came into play after just over half an hour for Dejan Ljubicic, who was threatened by yellow-red, but never really found his way into the game. He tried hard, but the youngster didn’t really want to succeed, especially with the ball.
Davie Selke (from the 61st)
Just a few minutes after being substituted on with the first shot, he didn’t get enough pressure behind the header (65′). Headed over the goal after a corner from one meter (84th).
