The new album contains 12 compositions – eight with texts by Mārs Švern, one each with the words of Latvian poets Madara Gruntmanes and Tom Treiberg, as well as two texts by Turkish poet Nāzim Hikmet Rana in the retelling of Pēteris Brūver, which were included in the selection of Turkish contemporary poetry “Balozu”, published in Riga in 1988 full yards”.
In addition to the core of the group (Māris Šverns, Klāvs Lauls, Uldis Gedra), guest musicians Pāvels Ignatjevs, Jēkabs Nīmanis, Judīte Zusmane, Madara Kalniņa and Marija Valmiera participated in the recording of the album.
The album was recorded and mixed by Mārtiņš Krastiņš; the album design uses the photo of actress Madaras Vilčukas (photographer Mārtiņš Lablaiks). The album design was made by Klāvs Lauls.
The group’s songwriter Māris Šverns introduces the album this time in poetry:
“Your NO! is not a black hole
but an open window to the Milky Way
that bee sting, split core
not the magnet that draws in darkness
is His truth in you
and the starry sky above your head
milk and honey under my tongue
branches full of grapes for you stars”
From June, the album will be available on major music streaming sites. It will also be available in audiocassette form at the album presentation concerts, and later in other formats as well. The album is published by “NabaMusic/MeloRecords”.
“No! A Known Reason” is the band’s thirteenth album. The first one was published back in 1995. Many of the group’s songs have already become hits of their generation – “Vēstules”, “My Great Desk”, “My Horse”, “Your House”, etc.
“Courtyards full of pigeons” is one of the values of Latvian independent rock music, which has continued to be faithful to itself and its listeners for 29 years through the ages and in changing lineups.
