“Bulgarian Citizen Detained for Attempted Rape of German Tourist in Greece: Possession of a Cold Weapon”

A 35-year-old Bulgarian citizen was detained in the Greek city of Kalamata after attempting to rape a tourist. He is also accused of possessing a cold weapon, BNR reports.

The 24-year-old German tourist filed a complaint with the police.

According to state broadcaster ERT, the attempted rape took place in a public place in the early evening, with cameras capturing the attacker’s actions.

He was arrested the same day. An iron rod, 82 centimeters long, which qualifies as a cold weapon, was found in his personal belongings during a search.

The detained Bulgarian citizen is in local custody.
