In Amsterdam, The Hague, Deventer and Eindhoven, Turkish Dutch people can vote for a new Turkish president for the second time from today. Recep Tayyip Erdogan fell just short of being re-elected in the first round on May 14. Therefore a second round is necessary.
In Deventer you can vote again in sports hall De Scheg. The voting location in The Hague is the GIA conference center and the one in Eindhoven is the Van der Valk Hotel. In Amsterdam this time it is not possible to vote in the RAI, but in the Rhone Events & Congress Center, near Amsterdam Sloterdijk station.
The first round of voting in the RAI was not without problems. Several fights broke out. Three hundred people were involved in a brawl on the last voting day.
You can vote in the Netherlands until Wednesday 24 May. The ballot box in Turkey itself is on Sunday 28 May. The voting locations in Amsterdam, The Hague and Deventer are open between 8 a.m. and 10 p.m., and those in Eindhoven between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. Moreover, in Eindhoven you can only vote today and tomorrow.
At the first ballot box in the Netherlands there was a turnout of about 50 percent. That means about 145,000 votes were cast. Erdogan received 68.41 percent of the vote, his main rival Kemal Kiliçdaroglu 28.82 percent. Erdogan’s AKP party received 53.36 percent of the votes cast in the Netherlands, Kilicdargolu’s CHP 18.90 percent.
