Jakarta, CNN Indonesia —
Chairman of PSSI Erick Thohir make sure Indra Sjafri will continue as coach Indonesian U-22 National Team. As a replacement for Indra, PSSI is looking for a new Technical Director from Germany.
“One of them I have spoken with Japan, later we will work together on it bench marking league and referee. With Germany we will also sign bench marking league, and one of them is looking for a technical director,” said Erick when asked who would become the PSSI Director.
Erick Thohir then confirmed that the new PSSI Director of Technology would come from abroad. The man who also serves as BUMN Minister wants Indra Sjafri to focus on handling the U-22 Indonesian National Team, which has a fairly busy schedule for the rest of this year.
“ya dong [Dirtek dari luar]. And coach Indra was pleased to see that there were many young coaches. Coach Shin Tae Yong should also have one coach-coach young from Indonesia. Regenerate. Don’t just play,” said Erick.
Indra Sjafri himself fully submitted the decision to PSSI. The former Bali United coach is ready to become the coach of the U-22 Indonesian National Team or PSSI Director of Technology.
“Which do I prefer? Everything is good. I am placed anywhere, I will be optimal. At the Directorate of Technology there are also many fundamental works that I fix,” said Indra Sjafri.
Regarding PSSI’s plan to recruit technical directors from abroad, Indra Sjafri said: “Yes, it’s up to PSSI, do you want it from outside or what?”
The U-22 Indonesian National Team will undergo a number of important events in the remainder of 2023. Apart from the U-23 Asian Cup Qualification in September 2023, there will also be the 2022 Asian Games in China.
