“Kévin Avoine Wins Second Stage of Essor Breton 2021 After Fighting in Training”

Kévin Avoine holds his first victory of the year. The resident of Sco Dijon won this Friday during the second stage of the Essor Breton.

” I am really happy. Since the beginning of the year, it did not bear fruit. Mentally, I had to fight in training to get there. Last week at the Tour du Loiret, I said that the form was present. My trainer Paul Herman always told me not to worry, that I was doing very hard races that didn’t necessarily suit me. When I went back to proofs of my profile, it would pay off and that’s what happens. It frees me, ”rejoices the 25-year-old Northerner.

After 80 kilometers, he joins a breakaway of 16 riders. “I panicked a bit. Guillaume (Souyris, his sports director, editor’s note) came to guide me and channel me. He asked me if I wanted to win alone or in a group. I replied that I wanted to go alone because there were still sprinters like Killian Théot. He told me to attack two laps from the finish or at the last”.

In the penultimate rotation, the Dijonnais returns alone to Jérémy Roma. “I knew he was a little hanged.” The duo arrives at the end and Kévin Avoine does not make any detail in the sprint.
