The happiness of the West Ham United players for have reached the final of the Conference League after winning 1-0 at AZ Aalkmar last night was marred by an unfortunate incident in the stands.
Relatives and friends of the West Ham United players, who were celebrating their success in the Europa Conference League semi-final in the Netherlands, were attacked by AZ Alkmaar supporters at the final whistle, Dutch media reported.
AZ supporters broke through a fence and attacked the West Ham relatives’ stand, seated in a reserved section at the AFAS Stadion. A scuffle ensued in which West Ham players, including captain Declan Rice, tried to intervene. Police and stadium security rushed to the scene to prevent further clashes, and calm was restored 10 minutes later.

There was a similar incident in London last week when AZ supporters, including manager Pascal Jansen’s family, were attacked by West Ham fans after celebrating the goal scored by the Dutch club in the first half of the first leg.
