“While we share this situation: the city and the suburbs. In the suburbs, we continue active operations – this is north and south, yesterday I literally gave information on how much we have advanced there. On the one hand, it seems like a short distance. We talked about approximately 20 square kilometers. And yesterday we gave data on both flanks: one is about 500 m, and the other is about 1 km,” Malyar said.
She noted that fierce fighting continues in the Bakhmut direction, and the advancement of the Ukrainian military is not easy, since the invaders have concentrated a large number of their forces.
“You need to understand the cost of this advance. It is very difficult to carry out combat missions there, because the enemy has concentrated a huge amount of his efforts. And, in fact, there every meter is like 10 km promotion in other conditions,” the Deputy Minister stressed.
According to her, the occupying troops are trying to regain the lost kilometers. Nevertheless, Ukrainian defenders repulse enemy attacks. In Bakhmut itself, fighting continues in the southwestern part.
“As for Bakhmut himself. Most of the fighting is now taking place in the southwestern part. But we control this part as of the moment and the enemy is not able to carry out his plans. That is, the attacks continue and our attacks are repulsed,” Malyar stressed.
Armed Forces of Ukraine are advancing near Bakhmut
Recall that about a week ago, the military command announced that the Ukrainian military began to move along the flanks in the Bakhmut direction. The speaker of the Eastern Command of the Troops, Sergei Cherevaty, did not rule out a possible encirclement of the occupiers in Bakhmut, but stressed that the situation at the front is very dynamic.
Deputy Defense Minister Anna Malyar said that the Armed Forces of Ukraine had liberated about 20 square kilometers in the Bakhmut region. However, in Bakhmut itself, the invaders are advancing.
In addition, yesterday the defenders reported that they had carried out offensive operations in the western environs of Bakhmut and created a bridgehead for further offensive.
ISW analysts believe that the Armed Forces of Ukraine have intercepted the tactical advantage near Bakhmut, but this section of the front remains the epicenter of the fighting.
