TNI Forms Special Team to Hunt Down Video Uploader Supporting Anies in 2024 Presidential Election

TNI formed a team to hunt down uploaders or video creators on YouTube who narrated soldiers led by the TNI Commander in a declaration of support Anies Baswedan be President.

The TNI previously stated that the video contained false or hoax information.

“Sintel TNI, Kababinkum, Puspom TNI, Puspen, SatSiber, formed a special team to hunt down the main perpetrators,” said Head of the TNI Information Center Rear Admiral Julius Widjojono when contacted, Friday (19/5).

Julius said that his party had detected the location of the video uploader.

“Yes, I will inform you later,” said Julius.

The video was previously uploaded to the Menara Istana YouTube account with the title ‘Directly led by Commander Yudo Margono !! Thousands of TNI officially declare Anies as president in 2024‘.

The video shows a member of the TNI speaking but with his mouth wearing a mask. Apart from that, you can see footage of Anies and Admiral Yudo Margono. The video has been watched up to 31 thousand times as of Wednesday (17/5) afternoon.

Puspen stated that the 8-minute and 2-second video had been edited to make it look as if the activities of the TNI Commander were with Anies.

“It should be noted that Anies Baswedan’s activities at Kopasus on November 9 2019 when he was still the governor of DKI. So it was not Anies Baswedan with members of the Nasdem party in West Java as narrated in the YouTube video,” quoted from Puspen’s written statement, Wednesday (17/5).

Puspen also stated that what TNI members conveyed in the video had also been edited.

“The creations made by the editor of Manara Istana, which appear to be conveyed by TNI soldiers wearing masks, are not true and are not the voices of soldiers, but the voices of other people, which the editor deliberately prepared. This video is currently being investigated by the TNI,” Puspen said.

In addition, the video shows TNI Commander Admiral Yudo Margono in a blue beret uniform and the Indonesian Navy logo emblem.

Puspen said that the Commander in Chief’s activities included in the video were during activities at the JICT Tanjung Priok pier when he was still serving as KSAL. Therefore, it is not related to Anies’ activities.

“It makes no sense that Anies Baswedan’s activities in Bandung were edited with a video escorted by members of the TNI from the 08th Brigade. The TNI Puspen explained that the TNI’s 08th Brigade did not exist,” he said.
