The stock market simulation game has been around for 40 years. The team from the Kastelberg School in Waldkirch once again took first place in the region.
Waldkirch Kastelberg students have already had success several times in the stock market simulation game, Germany’s largest stock market learning game, and have been able to improve the class fund with the prize money. This year, too: The “Duck with a hat” team took first place in the Sparkasse Freiburg-Nördlicher Breisgau category, worth EUR 500, and came seventh in the overall deposit ranking of the Baden-Württemberg Savings Banks Association (SVBW). That filled the cash register with another real 200 euros, while the Sparkasse game itself was about virtual money: The winning team “Duck with a hat” increased the starting capital from 50,000 euros to 65,182.75 euros in the 17-week season – mainly with the securities of Zalando. The real market values were used in each case. According to the Sparkasse, a total of around 96,000 pupils, students, trainees and young adults took part in the 40th anniversary round of games. In the business area of Sparkasse Freiburg Nördlicher Breisgau, 279 teams with 670 people took part.
