“The Jean-Baylet Challenge: 1,200 Young Rugby Players Compete on Ascension Thursday”

1,200 young rugby players are expected this Ascension Thursday for the traditional Jean-Baylet challenge.

Traditionally, Ascension Thursday sees the arrival of young rugby players who will take part in the Jean-Baylet challenge. They will be nearly 1,200, this Thursday, May 18, to land from all over the region and some from afar. This year, the young Valencians will once again be keen to defend the famous trophy won a year ago, but also all their teams to defend their “sky and white” jersey.

Seventeen clubs will be present, big teams will be present like the SUA, Saint-Médard-en-Jalles which had raised the challenge. An important day for all rugby schools that remain faithful to this event.

Are registered for this edition: SU Agen, Angoulême, Layrac, Beaumont-de-Lomagne, Nègrepelisse, Le Passage-d’Agen, Bon-Encontre, Niort, Chauray, Castelsarrasin, Moissac, Cahors, Castanet, Libourne, Sor-Agout, Saint-Médard-en-Jalles and, of course, the Valencian Future.

On the organizational side, everything will be done to offer the maximum number of services during the day. Volunteers and players from the hopeful and junior teams will be there to ensure the smooth running of the event. For catering, two foodtrucks will offer savory and another for sweet.

The club will also organize barbecues and refreshments will be installed. It’s a safe bet that the big sun will be there. For entertainment, when the children are not playing, they can let off steam on free bouncy castles or take their picture on a selfie terminal which will also be installed. Stand O Sport, club shop, EDF discovery stand, ventriglisse, raffle. A great animation also with the competition of the most beautiful long penalty and a contest of pass (2 € the participation).

Programme. At 8:30 a.m., reception of the teams; at 10 a.m., start of the meetings; at 12 p.m., end of morning meetings and lunch break; at 1:30 p.m.; resumption of meetings; at 4:30 p.m., end of the tournament; from 5 p.m. to 5.30 p.m., presentation of the trophy and awards.
