“Enefit Offers Free Installation of Electric Car Charging Stations in Latvia: Collaborate Now!”

With the aim of rapidly increasing the number of public electric car charging stations in Latvia, the energy company Enefit invites companies to cooperate by offering the installation of charging stations in their territory free of charge.

The availability of appropriate infrastructure is critically important for a faster increase in the number of electric cars, so Enefit’s investments in the development of charging network coverage are focused on creating a mutually beneficial cooperation model, where companies get the opportunity to modernize their territory and attract new customers.

Currently, the electric transport sector is moving from a passively waiting position to rapid growth, because the position of both the European Union (EU) and Latvia is unequivocal: the development of the use of electric transport and its infrastructure is a priority. Even the most cautious forecasts indicate a dynamic increase in the number of electric cars in Latvia as well – in 2030, there could be at least 36,000 electric cars on our roads.

“The need for an ever-expanding network of charging stations is already evident and will continue to grow. Taking into account the experience and knowledge gained with the network of Enefit Volt charging stations in Estonia, we want to expand it also in Latvia, Lithuania and Poland. Our goal is to provide convenient charging of electric cars throughout the daily cycle: at home, at work and on the road, so that you can easily get to any destination in the Baltic countries with an electric car and also go on further trips around Europe. Therefore, we expect significant investments in the development of the public charging service and we are looking for partners who can offer a suitable place for the placement of such an infrastructure,” says Daniels Trenins, an analyst at Enefit’s business development department, about the plans for the development of the electric car charging network.

Enefit is ready to fully cover the modernization of parking lots located in the enterprise territory by creating electric car charging stations in them: from equipment selection, purchase, installation to equipment maintenance and a full customer service cycle. Other partnership models are also possible, in which installation costs are mutually shared or Enefit acts only as a charging station operator. Regardless of the chosen cooperation model, Enefit will provide its partners with a monthly rental fee, as well as modern and easy-to-use charging equipment, which will help attract electric car users.

Research into the habits of electric car users shows that journey routes are usually planned depending on where the charging points are, and electric car drivers spend around 20 minutes at them. This is a longer period of time than drivers of normal vehicles spend at their stops. Considering that only 28% of houses in Latvia are private houses, the development of the availability and capacity of the public charging network will be relevant for the majority of the population, as they do not have the opportunity to charge electric cars in their homes overnight.

Supermarkets, shops, restaurants, hotels, business centers or other public institutions with a charging station next to them will become a regular stop for electric car users. Accordingly, offering such a service can be a competitive advantage for a company. In addition, all electricity supplied by Enefit is produced from renewable energy sources, so customers of Enefit Volt charging stations can be sure that their cars are being charged with green energy.

A network of 197 Enefit Volt charging stations is currently operating in Estonia. By expanding the coverage of this charging network outside of Estonia, travelers will have the opportunity to conveniently charge their electric car in a unified network of charging stations, while it allows Enefit partners to become a daily stop for the app’s users. More than 6,500 users use the Enefit VOLT charging network, and their number is constantly growing.

“Depending on the location and scope of the potential partner, we anticipate the possibility of adapting the optimal charging station solution. The higher the capacity, the more expensive the charging station. However, this is not always necessary – for example, near an office building where visitors usually stay for a long time, a 22 kW station is enough to fully charge an electric car’s battery in two and a half hours. On the other hand, a 50 kW or up to 300 kW power charging station would be useful in a cafe, especially one located near an intercity highway,” continues Daniels Trenins.

Companies interested in cooperating in the creation of electric car charging points for their customers are invited to contact Enefit specialists to learn more about cooperation opportunities and apply for the creation of a charging solution adapted to their needs.
