Vienna Stock Exchange Closes Slightly Higher Amid Positive International Investor Mood

VIENNA (dpa-AFX) – The Vienna Stock Exchange closed slightly higher on Wednesday in a positive international investor mood. The leading index ATX AT0000999982 increased by 0.27 percent to 3139.74 points. Most of the leading European stock exchanges also saw slight increases, and Wall Street also showed a positive trend over the course of the year.

However, the international financial markets continue to focus on the uncertainties surrounding the impending US default. Now, on the other hand, there was hope in the dispute over the US debt ceiling, the Helaba analysts wrote in their daily comment. There was a cautious rapprochement at yesterday’s meeting between US President Biden and senior congressmen, sources said. On Tuesday evening, US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen warned of a global financial tremor if her country defaulted on the dispute over the debt ceiling.

In Vienna, the number of reports was very thin and there was therefore a lack of impetus. Agrana was in the sights of the stakeholders with the presentation of results. The fruit, starch and sugar group returned to profitability in the 2022/23 financial year. The analysts of Erste Group wrote in an initial assessment that the preliminary results were confirmed and that there were no surprises. The Agrana share was up 1.2 percent.

In the technology sector, AT&S fell by 4.5 percent. The day before, the printed circuit board manufacturer’s titles had already lost 3.2 percent of their value according to results.

The other heavyweights were dominated by Voestalpine AT0000937503 by 1.9 percent. Wienerberger AT0000831706 however, fell by 1.7 percent. The Verbund share certificates fell slightly by 0.2 percent. OMV AT0000743059papers were slightly higher at plus 0.2 percent.

The papers of the Lower Austrian energy supplier EVN AT0000741053 lost 1.8 percent. Semperit fell by 2.6 percent. FACC, on the other hand, increased by 3.4 percent.
