The boss of the spy makes a shocking confession about the role of GUR agents in the killing while being interviewed blogger Ukrainian Sergey Ivanov, last Tuesday.
It was asked whether prominent Russian media personalities such as prominent journalist Vladimir Solovyov or editor-in-chief RT Margarita Simonyan, was the organization’s main target, Budanov replied that GUR had already had several high-profile targets.
“We’ve got a lot, including public figures and the media,” Budanov said, without giving names.
Pressed further by the blogger On GUR’s possible involvement in the murder of journalist Darya Dugina, daughter of Russian philosopher Aleksandr Dugin, or the recent car bomb attack on writer and political activist Zakhar Prilepin, the spy boss said he “can neither confirm nor deny” the ministry’s involvement.
Budanov’s statement was sharply criticized by Moscow, where Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova stated that it was a clear admission of guilt.
“Terrorist. Those who give excuses for the Kiev regime and sponsor it are accomplices of terrorists,” Zakharova wrote on Telegram.
“Is the UN not going to pay attention to it anymore?” continued Zakharova, as quoted RTThursday (18/5/2023).
