Russian Scientists Facing Treason Charges After Ukraine Claims to Have Shot Down Missiles

MOSCOW – Three scientists working on technology hypersonic missile Russia facing charges of treason which are very serious. This news came after Ukraine claims to have shot down six hypersonic missiles Kinzhal .

Anatoly Maslov, Alexander Shiplyuk and Valery Zvegintsev have been working on the weapon for years, publishing a book chapter entitled “Short-Term Hypersonic Facility for Aerodynamics Research at ITAM, Russia” in 2016.

It is unknown what the three had done.

In a letter, colleagues of the three protested against their innocence and said prosecution would do great damage to Russian science.

“We know each of them as a patriot and a good man who was incapable of doing what the investigating authorities suspected,” they said. Sky NewsThursday (18/5/2023).

The open letter from their colleagues at ITAM – the Khristianovich Institute of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics in Novosibirsk – said the materials the scientists had presented at international forums had been checked repeatedly to ensure they did not include prohibited information.

“The cases demonstrate that any article or report can lead to charges of high treason,” the open letter read.

“In this situation, we are not only worried about the fate of our colleagues. We just don’t understand how to continue our work,” continued the contents of the letter as quoted from Reuters.
