On May 17, the fifty-sixth satellite of the Beidou satellite navigation system was successfully launched. The Xi’an Branch of the Fifth Academy of Aerospace Science and Technology Group (hereinafter referred to as: Xi’an Branch) undertook the development tasks of the satellite navigation subsystem, antenna subsystem, forwarding subsystem, inter-satellite link subsystem, and some of the stand-alone measurement and control systems.
According to reports, this satellite has “capabilities” such as radio navigation, radio determination, and precise point positioning, and can provide navigation and enhanced services for users in China and surrounding areas. The development team carried out some stand-alone upgrades on this satellite. During the upgrade, efforts will be made to improve the on-board hardware capabilities, significantly enhance the navigation signal power and information rate, and further improve the continuity and stability of uplink injection, which will bring users a faster, more accurate, and more stable positioning service experience.
Previously, the precise single-point positioning service in the Beidou-3 global satellite navigation system could simultaneously support the “GPS + Beidou” dual navigation system. In order to support the leap from dual systems to four systems for precise point positioning services, the Beidou-3 satellite development team of Xi’an Branch has greatly increased the power of the B2 frequency band navigation signal of the satellite launched this time, and upgraded the downlink navigation task processing unit of the satellite. The upgraded precision single point positioning service can have the super ability to support four kinds of navigation system services.
To this end, the Beidou-3 satellite development team of Xi’an Branch not only developed a 200W high-power, high-efficiency fixed discharge and traveling wave tube amplifier, but also adopted a heterogeneous backup solution for three products, and at the same time upgraded the product’s power tolerance and ability to suppress micro-discharge , to ensure the reliability of high-power products.
It is reported that the Beidou-3 global satellite navigation system is a complex aerospace system with the largest scale, the widest coverage and the highest service performance in China. The Xi’an branch not only developed all the payloads for Beidou-1 and Beidou-2, but also provided the entire payload system for 20 of the 30 satellites of Beidou-3. (over)
