How Actor Mārtiņš Egliens Spent Donated Funds for His Medical Treatment in Germany

Actor Mārtiņš Egliens, to whom citizens donated more than 50,000 euros for an operation in Germany at the beginning of this year, explains on Facebook how this money was spent.

According to the actor, most of the donated money is still under the control of the “Ziedot.lv” portal. Mārtiņš has undergone medical operations in Germany, thanks to which he recovered the ability to speak to the point where he could communicate in whispers. However, the procedures will have to be repeated many more times.

Many people have asked me if I will return to the stage. You have to say yes and no here.

“As an actor, most likely, I won’t be able to fully please you in the near future (although I have a role planned for the National Theater next season, without a text), but you will see me on stage and elsewhere,” says the actor.

During his recovery, he turned to his life’s hobby – playing the piano and composing.

“But if you want to meet in person, you are welcome to Melluži on Ligo evening. For the first time in my life, I will sit at the keys as a pianist – the leader of the band, and I will pretend that all the musicians are very afraid of me. But actually I’m afraid. Because it will be an honor to play with the greatest Latvian musicians,” concludes Mārtiņš, separately addressing the musician Igo, for whom he has written a song.

Portal 1188.lv already reported that Mārtiņš Eglien, despite the fact that several specialists have been visited, has not succeeded in regaining the ability to speak. The Council of Latvian Doctors has prescribed a procedure for Mārtiņš, which is performed in a German clinic and costs up to 10 thousand euros.

In February of this year, with the help of the “Ziedot.lv” portal, residents donated more than 50 thousand euros for the actor’s treatment needs. At that time, the actor stated that if all the money is not spent, he will donate the rest to another “Ziedot.lv” project.
