Cuautla Launches Financing Program for Fire-Affected Merchants in Hermenegildo Galeana Market

The director of Economic Development of Cuautla, Mauricio Ortega reported that in order to continue supporting the merchants of the Hermenegildo Galeana marketthe Emerging Financing Program for Companies with Temporary Affectations (PEMAT), directed exclusively to tenants of the supply center, to whom They will be granted a loan of up to 50 thousand pesos.

Ortega reported that it was the Fondo Morelos staff who went to the supply center to present the program: “The PEMAT responds to the commitment made by the state governor, Cuauhtémoc Blanco, as well as the Secretary of Economic Development and Labor, Ana Cecilia Rodríguez González and the mayor of Cuautlense, Rodrigo Arredondo to support the merchants who lost their assets in the fire of the Hermenegildo Galeana market”.

Tenants may use this loan for the acquisition of raw materials, operating or manufacturing expenses.

Tragedy in the Hermenegildo Galeana market

The fire registered on January 3 in the Hermenegildo Galeana market consumed more than 70 percent of the supply centerdamaging its roof to the point of collapse and affecting an area of ​​2,800 square meters.

There were 243 stores with total damage, 56 with partial damage, 303 without damage and five empty storesbeing mainly the areas of greengrocers, flower shops, candle shops, tepacheries, poultry shops, butcher shops, fishmongers and herb shops that are affected.

After four months, the dealers are still waiting for the reconstruction of the damaged part.
