UPL Condemns Podemos-IU’s Election Ploy: “Referendum for Autonomy in Leonese Region”

UPL considers the support of Podemos-IU to a referendum for autonomy a mere electoral maneuver

The declarations of the Podemos-IU coalition for the municipal elections in the León City Hall in which they propose to support a referendum for the Autonomy of the Leonese Region is nothing more than an absolutely electoral maneuver and lacking in foundation, according to the trajectory of both formations, not only because every time they go out to any demonstration they appear with flags saying “Castilla y León”, not only are they also at the Villalar party without any shame and with Castilian flags, but also the statements of their political leaders to national level leave no room for doubt.

Its national leaders are not only completely unaware of the problems in the Leonese Region, but also consider, as the PP and PSOE do, that the autonomous framework is closed, so they cannot come now to rule on a referendum for the Region’s Autonomy Leonesa, when not even they themselves believe it since, as we say, it is nothing more than an electoral position trying to attract a vote from Leon, but it is evident that the people of Leon and those of Leon are accustomed to these winks that are only looking for a vote to then completely forget about León and the Leonese Region.

We cannot forget either the criticism from Podemos and IU when the then Podemos councilor in the León City Council supported the motion for the Autonomy of the Leonese Region and we do not doubt that it was one of the factors for which he was expelled from the party, therefore that “it is already well to postulate with Leonism in these municipal elections”, has affirmed the candidate for mayor of León, Eduardo López Sendino.
