The most dramatic situation is in the city of Cesena in Emilia-Romagna, where the Savio river has overflowed, writes The Republic.
Pictures from the city show large masses of water flooding into the Italian city.
Several residents were trapped on their roofs on Tuesday, in an attempt to escape from the huge bodies of water. They had to be rescued safely by rescue teams and volunteers, writes the newspaper.

There have also been several landslides in the areas of the Apennine mountain range.
Several roads and train lines are closed on the Adriatic coast due to the danger of rivers overflowing their banks.
Avisa writes that the city of Riccione in the province of Rimini is also badly hit, in addition to the cities of Bologna, Ravenna and Forlì.
La Repubblica writes that over a thousand people have been evacuated due to the flood, and the number is expected to rise. 528 of them are in Ravenna in Emilia-Romagna.
So far, no missing or dead have been reported.
Mayors in many of the affected areas have decided to close schools through Wednesday as well, after the weather forecast shows more rainfall.
