The first leg saw Inter Milan making their intentions known from the very beginning, with goals from Marcelo Brozovic and Matias Vecino coming in the first two minutes of the game. AC Milan tried to rally, but couldn’t overcome the solid Inter defense.
The result of the first game was decisive, and the second leg saw little change. While Milan needed to score at least two goals to draw level, they failed to get even a single goal. The Inter defense was able to prevent Milan from creating any real threats, resulting in a comfortable win for the home team.
Inter’s solid defensive style is known in Italian football as Catenaccio – an art of defense that has been employed by many of the country’s successful teams. But in this case, it was more than just good defense that won the game for Inter. On the other hand, Milan failed to effectively challenge their opponents.

The fans, too, were thrilled with their team’s success. The streets of Milan were filled with Inter Milan supporters, who celebrated their team’s hard-earned victory. The Inter faithful sang their songs with pride and enthusiasm, drowning out the sound of sirens in the city.
While Inter can be proud of their victory, their real challenge now comes in the form of either Manchester City or Real Madrid in the final. Unless they can bring out the same level of play that they demonstrated against Milan, they are unlikely to overcome either of these teams.
Inter Milan thus proves its great strength, not only in Italy but throughout Europe. With their detailed style of play and talented squad, they offer up a serious contender for the Champions League crown.
