The feature allows you to hide a chat from the WhatsApp home screen, which is “transferred” to a secure folder called “Protected conversations”.
“The feature is great for those who need to share the phone with a family member or for those times when someone else is holding your phone at the exact moment a special message arrives,” the company said.
How to protect your WhatsApp conversations
- Open WhatsApp and tap the contact or group name;
- Then tap “protect conversation” (Chat lock);
- Activate the chat blocking method: “lock this chat with fingerprint/password”;
- Then confirm the protection by entering the cell phone password or biometrics (fingerprint or face);
- Now to view the hidden conversation, slowly drag the input box down and enter the password or biometrics.
According to the company, when activated, the function also automatically hides the content of the protected conversation in notifications.
For now, it is not possible to customize the password that protects your conversations, but the company has already said that, soon, it will be possible to define a credential for each chat.
