Transavia will cancel no fewer than 200 flights to and from Schiphol in June due to a persistent aircraft shortage. It has not been disclosed how many passengers the budget airline will be affected by this, but it is estimated that the number is between 30,000 and 38,000 travelers. In total, Transavia will cancel 320 flights at Schiphol, Rotterdam and Eindhoven in June.
Transavia is currently short of five aircraft due to delayed maintenance, damage and a delayed delivery of some second-hand aircraft. According to the airline, the number of aircraft that have to be grounded is “steadily decreasing”. At the beginning of this month, there were still eight.
Transavia goes deep into the dust: “We are well aware that we are messing up travel plans with this. We apologize for this unpleasant situation. This is not the good trip you can expect from Transavia.” Travelers are being called or emailed about the bad news today.
Also in the summer
The airline also expects to have to dupe passengers during the summer holidays. The number of canceled flights will be announced on May 25.
