Decarbonized transport in 2027 in the Niortaise agglomeration? In any case, this is the objective displayed by the Agglomeration of Niort. The elected officials announced, this Friday, March 31, to invest 40 million euros in the decarbonization of public transport.

The Agglomeration wishes to replace 24 bus diesel by buses running on biogas. This will represent 40% of the fleet currently in circulation on the Tanlib bus network.

For this, several stations bioGNV are currently installed in the agglomeration. From May 2023, around ten buses using this low-carbon energy will be in circulation in the Niortaise conurbation.

Towards an abandonment of diesel

The objective of the Agglomeration is to gradually abandon diesel for all of its public transport.

If for the moment, biogas is favored by the agglomeration councilelected officials do not refrain from using another energy if it is more advantageous than biogas declared Jerome BalogeChairman of Niort Agglo:

“Our choice is materializing today with the installation of this bioNGV station, which marks our progressive renunciation of diesel. But if, tomorrow, another energy becomes more interesting than bioNGV, this station will also be able to absorb it. »
