Firefighters responded to a fire at an apartment complex on Dr. H. Colijnstraat in Geuzenveld. Four residents had to be rescued by the fire brigade via a balcony. Seven residents were checked by the ambulance. A cat did not survive the fire.
The fire in the complex was discovered around 3:40 am. The fire brigade quickly scaled up to a large fire and came to the scene with many units. At around 4:30 a.m., firefighters said the fire was under control. Two adults and two children were taken down from a balcony by the fire brigade.
Electric scooter
Many other residents also had to leave their homes temporarily and were waiting downstairs. The fire brigade carried out measurements in the apartments that were damaged by the fire and that were adjacent. Residents of four homes were unable to return to their apartments because of the fire damage.
According to the fire service, the damage to the homes is extensive. The suspected cause of the fire is an electric scooter. Research is still being done in the complex.
