Ivan Tertel, chairman of the State Security Committee of Belarus, said that the department knows “the specific goals of specific individuals” who will soon make attempts to destabilize the situation in the country. “We are waiting for attempts,” he said.
“Our opponents, and this is the so-called collective West, have not changed their goals at all. They are to change the geopolitical alignment in the region. Therefore, you should not relax, declared head of the KGB in an interview with STV.
According to Tertel, “the opponents of Belarus” are “pressed by sponsors – they demand actions, terrorist attacks, destabilization of the situation.”
“They are not satisfied with what is happening now – a calm situation in our country, peaceful work,” he explained.
At the same time, the head of the KGB admitted that there are certain problems in Belarus – “as there are, of course, any country has problems.”
“But we are solving these problems. And this is very annoying for those who would like to change the situation,” the KGB chairman explained.
Recall, on May 9, the KGB announced the prevention of a terrorist attack, which one of the Belarusians wanted to organize on Victory Day. According to Tertel, in this way they wanted to “stir up the situation” in the country.
The next day, Belarusian television told about the details of the prevented terrorist attack. With reference to the KGB, the state television channel ONT reported that unknown people had sent several parcels to Belarus containing explosives. At the same time, the bombs were disguised as “household appliances”.
