However, temperatures will rise steadily
In the next few days, our country will fall into the periphery of a vast area of low atmospheric pressure. Warm Mediterranean air will be brought in. A cloudy period with precipitation is ahead, but also with higher and traditional May temperatures.
On Monday and Tuesday, the cloudiness will be with minimal breaks, more frequent in the eastern regions. During both days there will be conditions for spring rains in Western and here and there in Central Bulgaria. Thunderstorms are also possible around the mountains. On Tuesday, the wind from the east will increase, without lowering the temperatures, which will remain between 20 and 25 degrees. Due to the transfer of Mediterranean air into the atmosphere, the concentration of fine desert dust from Africa will increase, more noticeably in Southwest Bulgaria.
Wednesday and Thursday are the days with more stormy thunderstorm activity and spring storms in more parts of the country. Precipitation will be temporarily intense with a risk of hail.
During the second of the two days (Thursday), temperatures will drop slightly by a degree or two. From Friday to Sunday, the sun will appear in more places in the country. It will be spring warm with temperatures between 20 and 25 degrees. In the hours around and after noon there will be temporary increases in cloudiness with short-lived precipitation, accompanied by thunder in places.
In the last full week of May, the weather will remain unstable as a series of Mediterranean atmospheric disturbances pass through. Many areas will develop thundery clouds with brief afternoon showers. The risk of spring hail remains high. Daytime temperatures in traditionally warm regions will rise with values close to 30 degrees.
