German Marketing Association registered association
Spring Conference 2023:
The German Marketing Association has a new President and a new name
At the general meeting on 13. May 2023 in Leipzig, around 40 representatives from the Marketing Clubs unanimously elected Claudio Montanini as the new President. The previous President Dr. Ralf E. Strauss resigned from his post at the end of March after 10 years.
In Claudio Montanini, the association has found an extremely committed and qualified successor for its top management. Montanini is the ideal choice as he himself comes from the ranks of the members and thus has a deep understanding of their needs and challenges. He has many years of experience in committee work and has been President of the Marketing Club Frankfurt for 14 years. He will continue to hold this position until the club board elections in September 2023, when he will officially end his term in Frankfurt.
With his professional expertise as co-owner of the communications agency PSM&W, Montanini is the ideal candidate to successfully represent the German Marketing Association externally as well. With him at the helm, the association will be able to strengthen its position as a leading institution in marketing. In addition to his professional activities and voluntary work in the Marketing Club Frankfurt, Montanini is also involved in the board of directors of the Cluster of Creative Industries in Hesse (CLUK). He is also a member of the supervisory board of Eintracht Frankfurt Fußball AG and head of the marketing and creative committee.
Montanini is starting at the DMV at a time when the association is subjecting its orientation and sustainability to a thorough review and has already initiated the transformation process with the “DMV of the Future” program. In addition to the variety of club members and the regional marketing clubs, a uniform appearance, intensive networking of the approximately 12,000 club members and a common strategic orientation for the central topics of marketing should strengthen the role of the association.
In Leipzig, the members therefore decided with a large majority to rename the German Marketing Association in Federal Association of Marketing Clubs. The common brand core of the national association and the 60 regional clubs is the “Marketing Club”. The new name will gradually replace the previous name over the next few months.
The transformation process with the resolutions passed will now be continued in other bodies and committees and further developed under the leadership of the Executive Board until the next general meeting in October 2023.
“I am very pleased about the election as President and thank you for the confidence of the clubs. We have a super competent board team that harmonizes heterogeneously as well as a great team in the office. We need that. Because we are facing far-reaching changes as a professional association, which we will emotionally charge internally under the new flag as the Federal Association of Marketing Clubs and position ourselves externally as the marketing community. To this end, we decided on a series of activities in Leipzig and launched them. It is important to me that in the future we act nationally with all regional clubs as one marketing club and that we focus on the three core topics of relevance, content and further training”.sagt Claudio Montanini. “I would like to thank Ralf Strauß for his 10-year commitment. He got us back on the right path as an association and initiated the first stage of the transformation. And without him, the German Marketing Day would no longer be the Mecca of marketing.”
The board of directors is also elected every two years at the general meeting: a new face joins the board of directors, six board members were confirmed in office for a further two years. The longstanding Vice President and CFO Helmut Loerts-Sabin is no longer available after 8 years. In addition, the managing director, currently Florian Möckel, becomes a member of the board, which leads to a closer integration of the main office with the voluntary work. In addition, the respective spokesman of the advisory board will represent the interests of the regions on the board in the future. The new elections for the spokespersons for the young marketers (marketing pioneers) will take place in the summer of 2023.
The Advisory Board of the German Marketing Association eV was also re-elected. As part of the five regional meetings, the club representatives had already elected the five advisory councilors on behalf of their region in spring 2023.
