The British woman fell ill suddenly last October, when she was seven and a half months pregnant
Emma Taylor, 33, from the UK, was forced to give birth six weeks prematurely while in a coma when a non-cancerous brain tumor she had had for years suddenly burst.
The Brit fell ill suddenly last October when she was seven and a half months pregnant and her partner Scott Weeks rushed her to the hospital, the New York Post reported.
“I called an ambulance but they couldn’t get to us fast enough so I decided to take Emma myself. It’s lucky I did because the doctors said if I had waited four hours the outcome would have been very different.” said the woman’s husband, reports glasnews.bg.
Hospital staff discover the tumor and Taylor is placed in a medically induced coma so she can give birth to her daughter, Ophelia, by emergency C-section. Despite the fact that the baby was born six weeks premature, he did not have any health complications.

“They had to scan Emma, but to do it safely, they first degenerated Ophelia. The scan showed a huge tumor that she had been living with, which burst after the pregnancy hormones made her grow faster. This caused a brain haemorrhage, because the result causes damage to the right brainstem and right eye while the left side remains paralyzed,” Weeks explained.
Taylor was airlifted to the Royal London Hospital, where she underwent surgery two days after giving birth. Surgeons reported that they successfully removed two-thirds of the 60mm tumor, but Taylor remained in a coma for three months.
The British woman is now recovering in a rehabilitation center after suffering a bout of paralysis. The woman communicates only by moving her head and hands, but she is determined to get better for her daughter’s sake.

According to her husband, doctors suspect that Taylor has been living with the tumor since a young age, she complained of headaches before being rushed to the hospital.
