“I have started to repair it. Maybe one day there will be a Bingedda guest house, because Latvians often go to the small town and look for where Roberto lived,” said Meloni.

In March of this year, Roberto’s mother passed away, and he is still struggling to come to terms with it. “I still haven’t digested it. I don’t want to accept what happened. Sometimes I catch myself thinking – why didn’t mom call? And then I remember that she’s gone. But mom was sick recently. When all five of us children were there, she could pass away with a peaceful heart,” Meloni says.

Roberto’s mother Bingeda passed away at the age of 84.
