For the seventh time in the history of the ESC, the winning song comes from Sweden – Loreen wins in Liverpool.
The Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) was again disappointing for Germany on Saturday evening, but was a success in terms of quotas. On average, 7.45 million viewers watched the final from Liverpool from 9 p.m. on the first. The audience rating was 35.8 percent.
In addition, there were 512,000 viewers (2.5 percent) on the ARD special-interest channel One. The total number thus added up to 7.96 million. They saw Germany’s ESC band Lord Of The Lost take last place. The Swedes, on the other hand, could celebrate with winner Loreen.
In previous years, interest in the ESC final was even higher: when Lena won for Germany in 2010 with “Satellite”, there were even 14.7 million in front of the screens. The following year at the ESC in Düsseldorf, 13.9 million in Germany watched the live show.
On RTL, 760,000 (3.6 percent) viewers saw “Unforgettable – The secrets behind the most iconic RTL moments”. Sat.1 still attracted 720,000 (2.8 percent) interested people in front of the TV set with the Pixar animation film “The Incredibles 2”.
