White British children may be a minority in schools by the age of 40, the British newspaper “The Guardian” reports, citing an Oxford study, BTA reported.
According to Dr Paul Moreland, a demographer and lecturer at Oxford, previous research suggests that 50 to 60 per cent of the general British population will self-identify as white British by 2060.
This would mean that the population in the big cities would fall below the threshold where white Britons would be a minority.
The Oxford academic claims that people who identify as white British in big cities will be a “dwindling minority”, with white British children definitely a minority in schools in 40 years’ time.
Forecasts by immigration experts also show that net migration for 2022 is likely to rise by between 650,000 and one million, increasing pressure on the government over its election promise to reduce it.
Migration is expected to be at least double the pre-Brexit level, meaning 200,000 to 300,000 a year and at least 150,000 above the previous record for 2022.
Keir Starmer, the Labor leader, said on Friday it showed how out of control the government had become.
“We need a management approach, and we don’t have it,” he said. Or like almost everything else with this government – no plan, no control. It looks like the system is broken.”
Downing Street 10 said Rishi Sunak had never put a figure on the expected level of net migration. The Prime Minister’s commitment is to reduce migration overall and that is what we are trying to do by tackling illegal migration and the points system, his spokesman said.
