Hundreds of relatives and friends gathered to send Ani-Maria and Yavor on their last journey. The two were hit and killed on the capital’s Slivnitsa Blvd. by an 18-year-old driver with a license for 3 months, who was driving twice the speed limit.
The crowd filled the plaza in front of the ritual hall and from there proceeded to the church of the cemetery for the funeral. The people were mostly young. Yavor died at the age of 22, and Ani at the age of 24.
Everyone was speechless, not uttering a word. It was pouring rain all the time. The two coffins were brought in a common hearse, and likewise taken to the church.
In half an hour, a national protest against war on the roads begins in front of the parliament. It is expected that the protesting citizens will also block traffic on Orlov Most. This is yet another protest after the young couple died in a serious accident on a footpath.
