When the police found a body in Hamburg in April, it initially didn’t look like someone else was to blame. However, the investigation shows that the man was apparently poisoned.
Several weeks after the body of a man was found in an apartment in Hamburg’s Steilshoop district, the homicide commission began investigating the case. Two men from the circle of acquaintances of the 39-year-old dead were suspected of having been involved in the man’s death, the police said on Saturday.
The homes of a 25-year-old and a 40-year-old were searched on Thursday. The younger man was arrested by investigators because of an arrest warrant in another matter.
Forensic investigations are still ongoing
In mid-April, police officers found the 39-year-old dead in an apartment. At the time, they had gained entry by force following a tip-off. Initially, there were no indications of third-party negligence, the police reported on Saturday.
However, further investigations revealed that the man had been poisoned with narcotics. During the search of the apartments of the two suspects, evidence was secured, the evaluation of which is still ongoing, according to the police. Forensic investigations are also ongoing.
