The 5 aero-clubs of Lyon-Bron have between them all 700 pilots confirmed or in training. While waiting to unveil the Pipistrel electric plane to the public on May 24, instructors from the Fédération Française Aéronautique (FFA) are completing their training to then pass it on to the pilots of the various clubs. This aircraft with a wingspan of 10.70 m (almost a glider) has 45 minutes of flight autonomy and carries two people, including the pilot. It is the world’s first electric aircraft certified by the European Aviation Safety Agency and could help solve noise pollution among residents of the airport. On an experimental basis and at a cost of €111,024 for three years, its rental is financed, in particular, by the Aura region and 4 neighboring municipalities (Bron, Chassieu, Décines, Saint-Priest).
Before being able to generalize the electric, the aeroclubs reduce noise pollution thanks to the installation of silencers on the planes-schools and smaller engines. This allows them to obtain the Calipso A classification, (equivalent to the Crit’Air 1 sticker), especially since the engines today run on lead-free, a little better for the environment, knowing that an airplane -school consumes 20 litres/flight hour (32 l/h for a passenger plane).
