“Sharjah Architecture Biennale Hosts Exhibition on Arab Architecture Archives”

The Sharjah Architecture Biennial organized the exhibition “A Journey into the Archives of Architecture: Beirut, Cairo, Rabat”, which presents old architectural information and plans by the architectural researcher George Arbid, at the Sharjah Biennial headquarters.

George Arbeed, an architectural researcher, stated that the Sharjah Architecture Biennale received the exhibition “A Journey in the Archives of Architecture: Beirut, Cairo, Rabat”, which is an exhibition that talks about 3 Arab institutions interested in collecting and preserving urban archives. It also displays rare archival materials from the Arab Center for Architecture in Beirut. and the Library of Rare Books and Special Collections at the American University in Cairo, and the Archives of Morocco in Rabat.

George Arbeed confirmed in exclusive statements to “Sharjah 24” that the exhibition includes a presentation of 5 canceled projects for various reasons, in addition to 3 documentaries that were commissioned to accompany the exhibition, which allows visitors to see the plans that were supposed to be implemented on the ground.

George pointed out that the exhibition aims to highlight the history of modern architecture in the Arab region and the contributions of architects in this field, and to encourage visitors to pay attention to the history of architecture, preserve it and benefit from it in the future.
