Some Discord users have received a rather disturbing email, which suggests that their data has fallen into the hands of third parties. This happened because one of the organizations associated with the popular messenger was the victim of a hacker attack.
- The data leak occurred as a result of infection of the computer of one of the external support employees. However, it is not known exactly how this happened.
- There is a possibility that third-party users got their email addresses, their correspondence with the support service, and any attachments they sent.
- Those affected by this attack received a message from Discord. In it, they warn against “suspicious messages” and other potential fraud attempts. It is interesting, however, that, according to their forecasts, the likelihood of such an event is low.
- The above message informs that the attacked account has already been deactivated. It was also assured that Discord, together with external support, has taken measures to improve security and minimize the risk of further attacks.
