The Wall Street Journal reported that Apple is planning to unveil one of its most unconventional products in the next few weeks.
The newspaper quoted informed people as saying that the product is a mixed reality glasses that will combine augmented reality and virtual reality in one device.
People familiar with the project added that users who will wear mixed reality glasses, for example in the field of games, will be able to experience their virtual worlds through the screen in the glasses, and they can also see the physical world around them at the same time thanks to external cameras.
It is likely that the beta version of the new product will be launched at Apple’s annual developer conference, which will be held next June.
People familiar with Apple’s supply chains indicated that the first batch of mixed reality glasses is not expected to be delivered to most users until the fall at the earliest.
And the newspaper indicated that the price of the new glasses will reach three thousand dollars, or about twice the price of virtual reality glasses that are currently available from competing companies such as Meta (Facebook) and others.
Some people who have tested it say its capabilities far exceed those of competitors, with higher levels of performance and interactivity.
Some see it as an effective way to enhance education by making some types of training more experiential, and could one day be used to help surgeons perform operations.
It is estimated that expectations for production and shipments for 2023 range between 200,000 and 300,000 units.
