Honda Announces Second All-Electric Model for European Market: the “e:Ny1”

Japanese automaker Honda has announced its second all-electric model for the European market, a car with the very hard-to-pronounce name “e:Ny1”. Although it is quite similar in size to the current HR-V crossover and could have been called something else, Honda emphasizes that this is a completely new car. It is identical to the car Honda e:NS1/NP1 crossovers, which is offered on the Chinese market.

The car is built on the e:N Architecture platform, it is equipped with 68.8kWh batteries, which allow you to travel 412 kilometers on a single charge in the WLTP cycle. The manufacturer does not disclose the maximum charging capacity, but promises that it will be able to charge from 10 to 80% in 45 minutes. It does not show the ability to charge very quickly when compared to other modern electric machines.

The new Honda electric car is equipped with a 201-horsepower electric motor that develops a torque of 310Nm. The manufacturer emphasizes that the car is built on a platform specially designed for electric cars, company representatives explaining that it provides Honda’s characteristic dynamics and driving characteristics.

The car will arrive in Europe within the next few months, but there is no exact information on prices yet. British media reports that the starting price of the car in Great Britain will be around 30 thousand pounds. This means that this model will have many competitors – Peugeot e-2008, Jeep Avenger, Hyundai Kona Electric, the new Kia e-Niro.
