The International Weightlifting Federation allowed Russians and Belarusians to compete on one condition.
The International Weightlifting Federation approved the “Recommendations of the International Olympic Committee for international federations and organizers of international sporting events on the participation of athletes with a Russian or Belarusian passport in international competitions.”
It is noted that athletes from Russia and Belarus will be able to participate in competitions in a neutral status. The return of weightlifters from these countries will take place in compliance with the recommendations of the IOC regarding their neutrality. Before they are allowed to compete, each will be checked by an “independent agency”.
