Saarland-Therme Imposes New Admission Rules: One Day Per Week for Children and Teens

Hanweiler (Saarland) – A drastic change is imminent for the Saarland thermal baths!

From July 1 of this year, young people and children under the age of 18 may only enter the popular wellness oasis on one day per week. “The Saarland-Therme would like to serve for rest and relaxation, unfortunately we don’t have special children’s animations or attractions,” explained the manager Melanie Nickles (38).

A special family day was introduced to give families with children the opportunity to visit the thermal baths. Minors are welcome every Wednesday in the future. “Basically, children are not excluded, but they are very welcome on Wednesdays for family day,” added Nickles.

Most of the thermal bath visitors understand the decision. “There are simply no attractions for the little visitors. The focus is clearly on wellness and relaxation,” commented some guests. The Saarland-Therme would like to create a quieter and more relaxed atmosphere with the new regulation.

It remains to be seen whether this model will prove itself and be adapted to customer requirements. Nickles commented: “We will see if this model works and adapt it according to customer needs. Feedback from our guests is very important to us.”

The Saarland-Therme is a popular wellness facility in the region and offers a variety of relaxation options with saunas, thermal baths and relaxation areas.

It remains exciting to see how the new admission rules will affect the operation of the Saarland Therme and whether the family day meets the needs of the guests.

“We come regularly and families with children should not be excluded. It would really be a shame if they were only allowed to visit the Saarland thermal baths once a week. After all, everyone should be able to enjoy the facility,” Margaux Gay (28) and Antonin Gay (27) from France.

“As a shift worker, my family and I come to the thermal baths two to three times a month. Wednesday as a family day will suit us well. As a father, I understand the thermal baths’ decision. There is actually a lack of activities for the little ones. A big advantage is that it is well tempered in all areas. Compared to other pools, it is much more pleasant here,” Daniel Vonbohr (44) from Sulzbach.

“I find this decision absolutely welcome, as I go to the thermal baths to find relaxation and peace! In the salt basin in particular, it sometimes gets a bit noisy due to families with children. The Calypso in Saarbrücken is much better suited for families. With this regulation, things will be quieter in the future and families can still enjoy the benefits of the thermal baths,” Salvatore Galati (25) from Saarbrücken.

“I think it’s great that from July 1st only adults will be allowed to go to the thermal baths. After all, this is a place of relaxation and not a playground. The families are by no means completely excluded, they still have Wednesday to splash around in the water”, Melanie Fouchs (37) from France.

“It’s just appalling what the Saarland Therme is planning here. During the corona pandemic, the children have already had to do without so much. And now they are supposed to be banned from the thermal baths as well? I fear that this action will only widen the gap between youth and adults. Children and families are an essential part of our everyday life and should not be excluded!”, Dimitri Garcia (40) from France.
